Innovation & Rapid Product Prototyping

Innovation and prototyping are where a technically challenging idea becomes a real, functional product. At Butler Technologies, our curiosity drives us to engineer creative solutions, turning your ideas and needs into working products through proof-of-concept development, prototyping, and research & development, all under one roof.

Over the past 30+ years, Butler Technologies has grown from a printing brokerage firm into a printed electronics solutions provider. Whether you have a fully developed concept or just the start of an idea, our team collaborates with you to develop it, prove it works, and prepare it for Full-Scale Production from the very beginning.

Rapid Prototyping

Not every project can go straight from design to production. Many customers want to see and hold their designs in real life before committing to full-scale production, so they are confident in how the part will function and look on delivery.

Other designs require iterative development, especially for brand-new, cutting-edge projects. Your ideas do not need to be fully finished before you start with us; we are here to collaborate and develop them with you.

Why prototype with Butler Technologies:

  1. Validate form, fit, and function before tooling and volume
  2. Iterate quickly on cutting-edge or first-of-its-kind designs
  3. Move from prototyping to production with the same partner

The Production Process

Butler Technologies is a technical screen printer & fabricator of printed electronics sensors and heater circuits. There are typically several steps and corresponding companies involved in the product development process. Once the initial design concept is created and provided by the customer, the typical processes involved in the manufacturing of a product incorporating a BTI-printed sensor or heater are as follows:

Step 1: Printing and Fabricating the Sensor or Heater Circuit

    Responsibility: Butler Technologies

    Examples: Biometric Sensor, Force
    Sensing Array, Flexible Garment Heater

Step 2: Building the Necessary Sensor or Heater Sub-Assemblies

Responsibility: Customer or 3rd Party Contractor

Examples: Wire Leads/Connectors, Battery Packs, Assembly to Foams/Fabric, Software, and Hardware.

    Step 3: Final Product/Device Assembly

Responsibility: Customer or 3rd Party Contractor

Examples: Integration of sensors/heaters and sub-assemblies into the final product, such as a printed heater, a wire harness, and a power source, into a heated jacket.

What Our Clients Say

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is rapid prototyping at Butler Technologies?

Rapid prototyping is the process of quickly turning a design into a physical, functional sample before full-scale production. At Butler Technologies, we prototype printed electronics, sensors, and heater circuits so you can validate form, fit, and function before committing to tooling and volume.

  • What is proof-of-concept development?

Proof-of-concept development tests whether an idea can actually work as a functional product. We help validate the core concept early, using the right materials and printing techniques, before you invest in prototyping and production.

  • Does Butler Technologies offer 3D printing?

Butler Technologies specializes in technical screen printing and fabrication of printed electronics, sensors, and heater circuits, rather than 3D-printed plastics. Our prototyping focuses on functional printed-electronic products.

  • Can you help if my idea is not fully designed yet?

Yes. Your ideas do not need to be fully developed before you start with us. Our team collaborates on iterative development, especially for brand-new, cutting-edge projects.

  • Do you take prototypes all the way to production?

Yes. We support the full journey from proof of concept and prototyping through research & development and into full-scale production, with the same partner throughout.
