Safety & Personal Test Equipment
We make safety labels, warning decals, equipment ID and sealed interfaces for safety, test and industrial equipment makers. As a UL Authorized Label Supplier, BTI builds to UL 969, which tests that labels stay attached and legible for the equipment's life.

Challenges We Solve
Safety Labels That Fall Off or Go Illegible
A warning label that has peeled or faded is a liability exposure, not a safety control. UL 969 evaluates the full construction for permanence and legibility.
Adhesive Treated as a Materials Decision
Most label failures start at the adhesive, not the ink. If a label must stay attached, adhesive is a compliance decision. BTI specifies 3M against the real surface.
Knowing Which UL Path Your Product Needs
Three UL paths exist: who may print UL marks, which materials are recognized, and whether the construction meets UL 969. Safety labels usually need the third.
Selling Into the US and Internationally
UL is recognized primarily in the US. CSA is accepted in Canada and the US with broader international recognition. BTI produces both constructions.
Rugged Instruments Built for Drops & Gloves
Gas detectors live in the field, get used in gloves, and meet chemicals nobody listed. Sealed to NEMA 4 and IP67, with domes an operator feels through a glove.
Labels for Parts No Longer Produced
Machines outlive their label suppliers, and often the only reference left is the faded placard. Send the part and we work from it when drawings are gone.

Why Safety Equipment Makers Choose BTI
UL Authorized Label Supplier
BTI is authorized to print UL certification marks and builds full UL 969 label systems, evaluated for permanence, durability, adhesion, and legibility.
UL 969 Decides If a Label Survives
ANSI Z535.4 governs what a safety label says. UL 969 governs whether it is still saying it after ten years of heat, chemicals, humidity, and washdown.
Adhesive Matched to the Real Surface
Substrate, finish, and exposure decide the construction, not a catalog default. Polyester, polycarbonate, and vinyl with 3M pressure-sensitive adhesives.
Labels, Overlays and Switches From One Supplier
The warning placard, the panel overlay, the sealed keypad, and the gasket come out of one ISO certified building in Butler, Pennsylvania.
What Our Clients Say
Equipment Identification
Printed Alternatives to Machined Metal Nameplates
Metal rating plates and identification tags add tooling costs, extend lead times, and increase weight. BTI redesigned them as printed, embossed labels using metallic inks, keeping the original appearance and durability while eliminating the machining step.
Instrument Manufacturer
Backlit Control Panel That Saved 20+ Hours of Engineering
A manufacturer wanted a control panel with backlighting that stayed even across the whole face. BTI took it from design through production, delivering a production-ready membrane switch that saved the customer over 20 hours of engineering time.
Production Efficiency
Value-Added Assembly That Removed a Step From the Line
Rather than shipping loose parts for the customer to assemble, BTI laminated the adhesives, spacers, and overlaminate films, surface-mounted the LEDs, fitted the connectors, and delivered a finished sub-assembly ready to drop into the enclosure.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does BTI make custom machine safety labels?
Yes. BTI manufactures danger, warning, and caution labels, hazard placards, lockout markings, and operating instruction labels for the machines and equipment you build. Constructions use polyester, polycarbonate, vinyl, or acrylic with UV-curable inks and adhesive selected for the surface the label actually meets, built as UL 969 label systems where the information is safety critical.
What is a UL 969 label system and does my product need one?
A UL 969 label system is a full label construction evaluated for permanence, durability, adhesion, and long-term legibility in its intended application, rather than just an approved material. Safety labels, electrical ratings, installation instructions referenced in UL standards, and product identification needed for inspection typically require one. Tell us the application and we will tell you which UL path applies.
Does BTI design the safety label content or print it?
BTI manufactures the label. The hazard analysis and the ANSI Z535.4 or ISO 3864 formatting of signal words, safety alert symbols, and pictograms are normally done by your engineering or compliance team, or by a safety labeling consultancy. We print to your approved artwork and take responsibility for the construction: material, ink, hard coat, adhesive, and whether it is still legible in year ten.
Are BTI's safety labels UL and CSA approved?
Yes. BTI is a UL Authorized Label Supplier and produces both UL and CSA approved constructions. UL is recognized primarily in the United States, while CSA is accepted in Canada and the United States and carries broader international recognition, which matters if the machine ships worldwide. Certificates of conformance and material declarations are available on request.
How long will a machine safety label stay legible outdoors?
That depends on the material, the ink, and the exposure, which is why BTI specifies against the environment rather than quoting a single figure. Polyester is chosen over polycarbonate on exposed exterior faces because polycarbonate yellows and embrittles under prolonged UV. Exterior constructions use UV-curable inks with a UV-cured hard coat and are tested to SAE J2020, which combines ultraviolet radiation, moisture, and heat in one exposure.
Can BTI make tamper-evident and serialized equipment labels?
Yes. Tamper-evident options include void embedded and destructible materials that cannot be removed intact. BTI also produces barcoded and sequentially serialized asset labels, and IUID labels carrying a Unique Item Identifier with both barcode and human-readable data for defense and government equipment programs.
Can BTI recreate a safety label set our original supplier no longer makes?
Often, yes. Reverse engineering is a standard BTI service and comes up constantly on machines that outlive their label supplier. Send a sample, even a faded one, and we work from the physical part when documentation no longer exists, then put the set back into documented production so batch two matches batch one.
Do you sell single safety labels or stock signs?
No. BTI manufactures to a customer drawing or artwork for OEM production runs, not stock catalog signs or one-off orders. If you need a handful of generic OSHA signs for your own facility, a safety sign catalog will serve you better and faster. If you build equipment and need a label construction that survives the product’s service life, that is exactly what we do.
