Flexible Printed Electronics
Flexible Printed Electronics is a cutting edge printing method using conductive silver or carbon inks on thin films or elastic substrates. These can be transferred to garments for e-textiles or smart clothing. Contact Butler Technologies Inc if you would like more information.
Force Sensing Resistor
A Force Sensing Resistor FSR is a variable resistor, constructed of several thin flexible layers, that varies in resistance as pressure is applied and released. Force Sensing Resistors are also known as Force Sensitive Resistors or Force Sensors. As pressure is applied, the resistance lowers and then returns to its original value as the pressure is removed. An FSR’s main purpose is to measure the force applied to a specific area and then relay that information via selected output electronics. All FSRs use high-resistance, carbon-based inks which, along with other design factors, can be re-formulated to alter the functionality.
Simply put, Flexible Printed Heaters are warming elements that are screen printed on flexible materials. Through the precise control of design elements and deposition of functional inks, flexible printed heaters can be made to specific operating parameters. To create these unique heater applications; a full range of conductive, resistive, and positive temperature coefficient inks are used in combination with flexible substrates such as polyester (PET), polyimide (PI), polycarbonate (PC), Kapton ® RS Conductive Film, and thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPU).

Butler Technologies CTO, Mike Wagner, presented on the collaboration of U.S. companies to develop the Ralph Lauren heated jackets worn by the U.S. Olympic Team in the opening ceremonies of the 2018 Winter Olympics.
